Goodbye 2007, Hello 2008...

Yesterday was a good day...a great way to end a fantastic year. I had to work yesterday, but K came up to help me hang my pictures/diplomas in my new office then we went to Nueva Onda for lunch. That was our first time to eat there, but I think we will be adding it to our rotation of restaurants. Yum! We also got some tamales and just had them for lunch today. Also, yum!

We had a relatively low-key evening last night. We had dinner at Maiko with Holly, Chris, Rhonda, and Tim. Delicious sushi with great friends. I think a sushi tour of Austin is in store for us in 2008. After dinner, K and I went over one of his friend's place for a small pre-party. Then, we walked back downtown to check out some of the Austin First Night festivities, including getting our picture taken that was then enhanced by a graphic artist. We were home by 11pm and brought in the new year quietly at home in true M & K fashion.
So, Jan. 1 is always a good time for reflection on the year past and anticipation for the year ahead. 2007 will be remembered for...moving into the 'lil blue house with K (the first time I have lived with anyone since 1997); traveling with K, including his 1st ski trip on a "real" mountain and the 1st time he went to a foreign country; getting promoted and entering the world of "management" at work; shin splints and personal worsts in races; K "growing up" (some) and (mostly) saying goodbye to the bars; going to bed at 10pm; the beginning of planning our future together; setting some limits on K's sports obsession; sharing household chores, including K washing dishes; getting to know each other's families; and continuing to love Rogue and all of the wonderful friendships we have made as a result.

What's ahead in 2008? Hopefully, continued health for us and our loved ones; regaining fitness and running success/enjoyment; satisfaction and security at work; visiting new places in the world together; good times with friends and family; and, most importantly, officially joining together as a couple.

Happy New Year!
