The good and the bad...

Let's start with the good first. We started off with a good Day 1 at ACL last night. We parked in the Bouldin neighborhood (for all you Rogues, think the 1st cross street of the Marshes) and made it into the park just as MIA was finishing up. We headed over to see Spoon. Because of the spaceship looking chairs with umbrella-like covers on them in front of us, we didn't actually "see" very much of Spoon. I don't really know too many of their songs, so I enjoyed one of the crowd favorites "I turn my camera on." Then, we intended to make our way over to see Kaiser Chiefs, but ended up meeting some friends instead. How is it possible to run into friends in such a large crowd? We talked briefly with Rob, then met up with one of my best friends from Dallas who had also managed to run into my cousin from Dallas shortly before we got over there. The best part of the evening for me was seeing The Killers with Pete and K. So many of their songs are good! And, his red shoes were awesome.
(Note the glasses).

We got through the masses streaming through the streets after the show and actually made it home by 10:15.

Now, for the bad. I convinced K to get up this morning to run. Now, I wish we had just stayed in bed. I was really ambivalent about going for a run - on one hand, I was eager to see whether anything they did yesterday at the doc's office made a difference, but on the other hand, I wasn't sure I could deal with the emotional fallout of having another bad run. The goal was to run the 7-mile loop on the trail. We drove down to the end of the street and hopped on the trail at Riverside and I-35. I made it to the Annex without *too* much pain, so I was cautiously hopeful. When we got to the Annex though, all the Rogues were coming back in from their long runs, so we stopped to chat with friends for awhile. A little too long in hindsight. My calves tightened back up and my shin pain started to flare up again. Finally, we tried to continue on our run on the trail, but I called it less than a quarter of a mile in. Thankfully, K wasn't too far ahead of me at that point, so I called out to him and we headed back to the Annex. The Enforcer gave us a ride back to the car, so at least I didn't have to walk back in tears again.

I need a magic bullet. I need to be able to run. It's that simple.
