A lot to do...

The weekend seemed to go by in a blur...

On Friday night, we had dinner at Romeo's with Holly and Chris. They were the first of my friends to see the ring and celebrate with us, so it was nice to share our excitement with them. I had been feeling a little let down earlier in the day about how difficult it was turning out to be to get my friends together to celebrate and share in our good news.

Since we were up kind of late on Thursday night with the debate and other stuff, I was super tired and crashed pretty early after dinner. Despite that, we didn't make it to the long run on Saturday morning. I rationalized that it was just a 10-mile run so it was easy enough to do on our own later. Instead, we researched a few additional venues that Holly suggested the night before and then ventured out to a couple of places (Austin Museum of Art/Laguna Gloria and Mayfield Park - yes, the water stop on the Mt. Bonnell run). That pretty much wore K out from any other wedding stuff for the day, so I went to Paper Place (another suggestion from Holly) and made my first wedding-related purchase! I also went up to Crate and Barrel to pick up a wedding gift, and while I was there found out about a wedding party event coming up this weekend for couples to get registry info and register before the store opens, so I signed us up! And, since I was there, I stopped in at David's Bridal just to take a quick peek since it was in the same shopping center. I definitely had a "this is really happening" moment that afternoon. I managed to coax K into seeing a chick flick on Saturday night. We went to see "Definitely, Maybe," which turned out to be a decent little romantic comedy. It was the perfect end to a good day.

On Sunday, we did more venue research and went to see a few other places (Botanical Gardens, Umlauf Sculpture Garden, Zilker Clubhouse). I got updated information about availability from a few places we are interested in today, and I think the Allen House and House on the Hill are among the top contenders for Sept. 6. I'd really like to make a decision within the next week, so stay tuned. I'm definitely feeling anxious about how much there is to be done and how expensive everything is, so much so that I haven't slept well for the past couple of nights. Sadie reminded me of this today though..."keep remembering that no matter what, you will look beautiful and you will say ‘I do’." And, isn't that really all that matters in the end?
